Recently,
Brian was nominated for the 2003 Carbonell Award for Best Supporting Actor in
a Musical for his portrayal of Homer Collins in Adam Guettel &
Tina Landaus musical, Floyd Collins, at Actors Playhouse
in Miami.
In 2002,
Brian appeared as Tony on the European Tour of West Side Story.
He performed songs such as Music of the Night, from The Phantom
of the Opera, and Gethsemane, from Jesus Christ Superstar
as a Featured Soloist on the North American Tour of The Music of Andrew
Lloyd Webber with British pop-star, Petula Clark.
Regionally,
Brian has many credits, including: the title role in the new musical, Bat
Boy! The Musical, which won the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best
New Musical in 2001 (Charleston Stage Co., Charleston, SC); the title role in
Oedipus Rex for the American Conservatory Theaters 1998 STC,
in San Francisco, CA; & Che¢ Guevara in Evita
for Broadhollow Players in NY; The Student Prince at Paper Mill Playhouse,
NJ; and the title role in The Student Prince for Gallery Players in
NYC. He has also performed as a featured soloist with the Seattle Symphony Orchestra
and the Portland Symphony Orchestra.
In
his short career, Brian has originated numerous roles for the New York Stage including:
Justin in Amy Gargans new play, The Line for the
Riant Theatre; Scott Vanderburg III in the new musical, With
Glee for the York Theatre Company; & Scott in Peter Mills
new musical, The Taxi Cab-aret for Prospect Theatre Company (a role
he reprised at the prestigious Berkshire Theatre Festival in the summer of 2000).
In 2002, for the
Richard Rodgers Centennial Celebration, the Richard Rodgers Foundation produced
the first revival of Rodgers and Harts musical Dearest Enemy,
in which, Brian appeared as Captain Harry Tryon. The original production opened
on Broadway in 1925, making household names of Rodgers and Hart. The Richard Rogers
Foundation also produced the Off-Broadway concert, Wall to Wall Richard
Rodgers, in which Brian performed as a featured soloist, with many stars
of the New York stage, including Betty Comden, John Cullum, Lea DeLaria, Melissa
Errico, Raul Esparza, Tovah Feldshuh, Celeste Holm, Rebecca Luker, Maureen McGovern,
James Naughton, & Christiane Noll.
His
other New York credits include: a reading of the new musical Masada
at the York Theatre Co. with Maya Days; Ben Dawes in Young Stowaways
in Space & Virgo in The West Street Gang both
directed by Mark Finley for TOSOS II; Jupiter in Tear Gas
at the Brecht Forum; Orpheus in Honeymoon in Hades, for The Genesius
Guild; and Lovely Billy Boy in the workshop production of the new
musical, Con Man, directed by Stephen Pickover.
Brian
holds a BA in Drama from Duke University, and a certificate in acting from the
